The PricewaterhouseCoopers National Maiden Debating Championships 2010 will take place on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th of March in the National University of Ireland, Galway. The competition is open to everyone in their first year of university debating.

Registration will open on the 25th of January (the Monday after Trinity). There will be a provisional institution cap of 4 individuals per institution but this will most likely increase so do express interest in further spots if applicable. The registration fee is yet to be confirmed. You can register teams by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

What we’re offering:

  • Lots of food and drink
  • Awesome socials.
  • Black tie final in our very own Aula Maxima on the Saturday, with champagne, strawberries and a chocolate fountain.
  • Show debate on Friday night, to be followed by a pirate social, with the cheesiest music around, lots of eyepatches and cocktail promotions.
  • 4 rounds of debating, followed by a break to Semis. 7-minute speeches throughout.

The Chief Adjudicator for the competition is Ruth Faller (Worlds Quarter Finalist, Irish Mace Finalist and Convenor, Durham winner) and DCAs are Conor Kelly (Aberystwyth Winner, Trinity finalist, UCD finalist, Maidens Finalist) and Nuala Kane ( UCD finalist, Birmingham winner, Glasgow Ancients winner).

Looking forward to seeing you all!
