Societies’ Awards 2003


 

The NUI, Galway Societies’ Awards 2003, sponsored by the Bank of Ireland, took place in the Aula Maxima on 25th March 2003. The awards were presented by the University President, Dr Iognáid Ó Muircheartaigh, and the ceremony was followed by dinner, dancing to the Wall Street Jazz Band, and much general merriment.

 

The winners of this year’s Society Awards were as follows:

 

            Best Society                             Literary and Debating Society

            Best Society Individual            John Lynskey (Auditor, Music Society)

            Best Society Event                    Anything Goes (Inter-Society Musical)

            Best New Society                      Human Rights Society

            Best Improved Society              Choral Society

            Best Departmental Society       History Society

            Best Publication                       Criterion (Lit & Deb)

            Best Website                             Computer Society

            Best Poster                               Anything Goes (Inter-Society Musical)

 

At the Board of Irish College Societies Awards, hosted by Trinity College in April, Anything Goes won the award for Best Society Event, the Choral Society was awarded the Best Improved Society title, and the Best New Society award went to the Human Rights Society.
