For nearly as long as man has been communicating through image and word, the debate has existed over whether its effects on the human psyche is an effective conveyance of ideas or an invasive method of swaying opinions. The battle between Freedom of the Media and Freedom from the Media has only heightened in modern times, with more media methods from ever before. Fintan O’Toole, experienced literary critic, historical writer and political commentator, opens the debate over whether we should let the media run wild and free or reign that monster in. Â
