This Thursday, Lit n Deb tackles the issue that has been dominating news coverage both in Ireland and abroad in recent times- that is the Irish Economy. Ireland’s Celtic Tiger past seemed like a lifetime ago when the IMF men arrived in Dublin last week. Are we right to be panicking? Or should we welcome this bailout?

Ireland is in trouble. The banks are falling, the economy is crumbling and the current government is on its last legs. Irish citizens are fed up. But is there really anything that we can do! Without the IMF cash injection Ireland’s economy would seize up, but should we welcome the loss of our country’s economic sovereignty with open arms?
