“THB The Current Government Has What It Takes"

Date: Thursday 29th October

Time: 7pm

Location: Kirwan Theatre

As the country lurches from crisis to crisis, Lit & Deb bring you the big questions – Where did it all go wrong? Where does the blame lie? And perhaps most importantly of all, who can we turn to to mend the damage?

THE VOICES OF EXPERIENCE

Do we hold faith with the current Fianna Fáil and Green party government and hope that they are capable of bringing Ireland out of the current straits we are in? Or does the fact that they were behind the wheel as the country slumped into its current crisis mean that the public’s trust in them fallen too far? Can we really blame a government who was in power as the world economy trembled just for not having a solution, or has the Irish government been uniquely poor in managing the fallout?

THE FRESH NEW ALTERNATIVE

The Opposition parties have spent the whole lifetime of this current government protesting and calling for change, but if given the power, can we really believe that they have the experience and ability to do the job of running the country? What different strategies can we expect from Fine Gael and Labour to try and reverse the flow of jobs and investment out of Ireland and to repair a broken Health system?

Hear from Fianna Fáil Minister and Galway TD Éamon Ó Cúiv, Fine Gael Senator Fidelma Healy Eames, former Galway Mayor and Green Party Councillor Niall Ó Brolcháin and Labour Party County Councillor Colm Keaveney, as each side tries to tell you why theirs are the hands into which we should place our futures. The Voices of Experience vs. The Fresh New Alternative, who will win out?
